1st Team 1 - 3 Old Manorians III

Bertains started off slowly as the pitch was in a bad state and was quite difficult in the middle, Manorians had about 10 mins of the first half where they knocked the ball about and started to create opportunities bit our defence was string and dealt with it easily. Afetr 10 mins we had seem to get to grips with the VERY boggy and slippery surface and started to move the ball wide dominating position. We kept putting the Manorians defence under pressure but only tested the keeper a few times. The opening goal came when a shot was deflected and Joe pounced to put home the loose ball with a clam finish, after that we started to test the keeper some more but failed to convert anything.
The second half quite honestly was the most appalling game I’ve seen, the referee kept stop starting the game and every time we started to produce anything he would blow for a foul even if we had the ball and the advantage. This was frustrating both teams as the referee was not allowing the game to flow in any way. A poor decision on the half way line (foul on Chris) was given the other way and a quick long ball put the winger in on goal. 1-1 quickly became 2-1 to Manorians after another poor call this time on the left wing saw another quickly taken free kick and long ball. Bertians did not give up and pushed forward creating more and more chances most notable was when Chris was put in one on one with the keeper who made the save. The keeper then pushed Chris with a shoulder barge while holding the ball clearly fouling him and it was shocking when the ref only gave him a yellow! We failed to convert the penalty and frustrations started to show! We were hit on the break for the 3rd and final goals and from the kick off Garry was shown a second yellow for what we still don’t know.
Very frustrating and in hindsight completely unfair result!
