1st Team 2 - 2 Old Ignatians III

It’s been 5 weeks since our last game and the way we played you could tell.
We started the game well opening up a great chance within the first 5 minutes when John Day played a lovely ball out wide to Rhys who provided a fantastic cross for Webbo who powered it home with ease. For the next 20 minutes we had control of the game passing the ball nicely and creating some good efforts but didn’t make the keeper work that hard. After 25 mins we slowed down and was second best in every position, and great shot from just outside the box beat Steve for to make it 1-1 at half time.
The second half we changed our shape to deal with the very hardworking Ignatian midfield but we still didn’t battle as hard as we know we can and kept coming off second. Ignatians took the lead after some sloppy defending in the box and that seemed to wake us up, from this point on we started to win most of the midfield. With 15 mins to go it looked like we had pulled the score line back but a perfectly good goal was disallowed for offside, after being denied a second goal Webbo turned provider when he beat the full back and powered to the goal line chipping a great ball up for the oncoming Riccardo who put away a great header scoring on his debut.
At 2-2 the game was back and forth with Ignatians having a great chance after going 1:1 with Steve who pulled off a wonder save to keep us in with a chance, we kept plugging away but could not pull of a winner.
Blame it on lack of games or too many Easter Egs, but we will regret dropping 2 points today especially as our title rivals both lost!
