1st Team 3 - 1 Old Uffingtonians II

We kicked off as the rain started to fall, we started very lively testing the keeper twice early that saw him spill the ball on both occasions. Uffingtonians looked very good in the middle of the park and up front but there defence was woeful, the lack of pressure on our wide players meant that we had chance after chance coming from crosses from the left and the right. After a few great crosses and a great attempt a goal that saw Massy hit the crossbar from about 45 yards, he final found Sonny who simply placed the shot to start the scoring. 1-0 very quickly became 1-1 after what can only be the luckiest shot ever OR simple brilliance as the Uffingtonians number 10 lifted the ball up and around the defence bending it into the far corner, while being tightly marked by two defenders… what a goal!
After the goal we started to play the ball on the floor making space and really making the Uffingtonians midfield work. A great cross from Garry was flicked on by Sonny that found Webbo who kept up his great form hitting the inside of the crossbar and finding the net 2-1.
The second half we made a few changes really started to turn the screws on Uffingtonians, we had a goal ruled out for off-side that was a bit harsh then another when Sonny powered past the defender to find the net. The Uffingtonians defence was coming under more and more pressure and another great Massey cross this time finding Mike meant it was 3-1 and looking like the flood doors were about to open.
We kept plugging away but credit to Uffingtonians they never gave up and had a few chances at the other end that forced Paco into some great saves.
Great team effort and some stand out performances from Massy, Sonny and Jason…
