1st Team 1 - 3 Old Parmiterians

Another game were we dropped points despite being in control of the game!
The game started with both teams looking well up for it, Parms had to win to stay in with a chance to win the league and we needed a win and results to go our way to stand a chance of promotion. Bertians took the initiative controlling the midfield and containing the Parms striker both teams had chances but the better certainly fell to us with Danny, Rhys, Leon and Mike all testing the keeper. The first goal came after a lot of possession from the Egs and great low cross from Leon was pounced on by Danny Morgan finishing with a great low shot. From then on Parms second best to every ball and we had a few chances to extend the lead
The second half and it took us a while to get started and Parms had certainly woken up pining us in our half for 15 mins, after a few great save from Paco and a lot of wide shot from Parms we started to get back control. Parms equalised with a soft goal and that really woke us up, we started to get chances but Parms would break quickly and some fantastic defending from our back four contained the striker forcing him to pass or shoot from range. We should have taken the lead on a few occasions hitting woodwork and some dubious offside calls but then with less than 10 mins to go a break from Parms saw the number 5 take a dive in the box and the game changing decision from the ref who shockingly awarding a Pen. The Parms striker was on +60 goals for the season so there was only going to be one ending, and he converted it and you could see what it meant, less than 4 to go and we pushed on and was again hit on the break and a clearance fell to a parms player who created a quality finish that nobody saw to make it 3-1.
Both teams worked hard but we deserved more from the game and the result is not a reflection of the game, good luck to them as they’ve had a long season and in all honesty are the best team we’ve played in a league where we really should have done better.
Long hard season but credit to the lads they have had a great season just a bit unlucky. Next season!
