A very commanding win. Dominated from beginning to end too. Great debuts from the new lads Nathan, Charlie, Dom and Ollie.
The oppo started well and pressed and probed with passes etc. This put us on the back foot from the kick off. Despite all this early pressure no shots were made on our goal. Our defence was alert and quick to react to this game plan. After about 10 mins we got into a rhythm and didn't really break stride after that. The passing and switching was more than the oppo were used to.
With quite a few new faces in the side I could not have asked for more really as the understanding between players was untested.
The ball retention was good around the pitch and we anticipated/intercepted a number of passes and loose balls. We scored 3 goals from hassling and gaining possession in their final 3rd.
Their strikers were quick and would have caused us more trouble if our back four had been complacent.
The goals came at regular intervals and they caused us little problems. As the game wore on understandings developed which saw us open them up at will. The score line should have been double figures but for some great shot stopping and 6-7 glaring misses. They got a weak penalty decision at the end to get a consolation goal.
