A good team performance. We played a good competitive opposition yesterday and outplayed them - period!
They matched us evenly in the first half with chances falling to both sides. The second half showed what our character was all about. We fell behind from a individual error and they grew in stature.
We ignored that and carried on taking the game to them. Resulting in a Ollie Olanipekun, winning a penalty that debutante Reiss insisted on taking. Their keeper who had made a number of very good saves up until this point made another and saved Reiss's shot. But Reiss followed up and swept home the rebound - 1-1.
After that we pressed even more and had woodwork efforts, dubious off side shouts and good work by their keeper kept them in the game. The opposition got more physical and petulant resulting in a number of Referee interventions. We pushed until the end but could not get the winning goal. We went into extra time and our pressure grew and their patience wilted.
Charlie Hill put a slide-rule pass through to Ollie Olanipekun on the right hand hide and he run through and almost broke the net - 1-2. This goal saw discipline evaporate form the oppo and one their numbers was sent off for a reckless challenge and abusive language to the referee. Our pressure mounted and the 3rd goal came when Ollie Campball and Reiss Hewitt pressed their back four, resulting in Reiss nicking the ball off their centre back and racing on goal. Reiss rounded the keeper and passed the ball into the net - 1-3.
More chances came and went begging during extra time. We saw the game out beat a very organised and solid Alleyne Old Boy side.
