In short we made much harder work of this game than it should have been. From the beginning we dominated play but failed to really make their keeper and back four work in the 1st half. We did not press quickly enough or in sufficient numbers. This repeatedly allowed the opposition to play their way out of trouble. We also got caught out 3-4 times on the break during this phase.
The second half was more of the same with ourselves having most of the play and Parms causing us problems on the break with their quick front three. We grew in confidence and a quick, fast move finally saw us break them down with a simply taken back post header from the free scoring Michael Proctor. This should have spelled capitulation from Parms but they dug in and came close to equalising twice on the break.
We started to move the ball around more and cause them problems but over playing particularly from Reiss and Saul really disrupted our tempo. When the ball should have been moved around these two lads decided to start showboating!
We finally put the game to bed with two well worked team goals in quick succession. Bitter sweet feeling to beat our old club with many friends on the opposing side - but that's football!
