Very frustrating game on a few levels. We started late due to one of the lads forgetting the kit.
Despite this we raced into a 2 nil lead within the first 20 minutes. Manorians did not touch the ball. They started getting quite physical and lambasted the referee at every decision. The ref was a very young novice with an assessor present.
We cruised the first half and but failed to punish the oppo any further. A 3rd goal would have put the game to bed. The 2nd half was very different with Manorians bullying the referee in a way I've only ever seen once before. He was scared and struggled to make decisions etc.
At one point one of their players kicked Ian Mackenzie in the head as he was lying on the ground. He pretended to be oblivious of the contact - the ref did nothing!
They resorted to long balls and bullied the ref into awarding many dubious free kicks by shouting at him and squaring up to him in groups of 3/4/5 lads at a time.
They scored three tap in/ penalty box scrambled goals in quick succession. Bad decisions for the free kicks aside - we defended poorly for their goals and failed to deal with the 2nd and 3rd balls.
We pushed for the equaliser but failed to unlock them again. Had a strong penalty shout not given too.
At the final whistle the oppo failed to raise three cheers for us, despite us according the necessary post match courtesy. This typified their manner. The referee was 'dressed down' for 15 minutes post match by his assessor, which was no surprise.
Overall a galling loss!
