Our previous meeting of Wood Green we won 3-1 and should have scored double, what a difference this was today!
The tone of the day was set when 3 of our players had just been given parking tickets, then we saw the boggy & sticky pitch and knew it was going to be a hard day.
Wood Green started very week putting under quick pressure, we struggled to get into the game and things got worse when a deflected save was not cleared and Wood Green punished us for it! Within 15 mins of the start another sloppy clearance saw a 2nd goal and The Egs under real pressure. We started to get into the game but Wood Green would break in numbers and we seemed to have lost our ability to with stand the pressure, the 3rd goal came from a good counter attack that saw Wood Green move easily behind our back four. Things could have been worse and Paco pulled of a few great saves and was even at one point 3 on 1 and came out of it with the ball!
The second half we tightened things up and started to do as we was told, moving the ball about quickly and playing some very good football. But a bit of bad luck, poor shots and some shocking offside decisions meant we could not get a goal! We kept plugging away but it was Wood Green again from the counter to get the 4th and seal the points!
Very disappointing way to end the year, we are going to have to come back stronger and more disciplined after the break
