A very good and strong performance yesterday.
The obvious downside was that with all our possession we did not convert any chances.
The referee made some poor errors with the 2 penalty shouts not given, the wrongly called off sides etc And yes we would have run out convincing winners if just one of these mistakes was correctly judged. That said we should still have scored form open play.
Our shots on goal ratio is poor and this explains part of the problem in our low goal to game ratio. This is solvable with more composure and a higher intensity around the pitch - especially in the final third!
All in all the defenders dealt with the goal threat Ignatians posed with two technically gifted strikers. Cassidy and Mike Ramsey were the stand out players with their drive and penetration. Unfortunately this week I thought our wing play was a little subdued with their full backs not exposed/beaten no way near enough.
We probably sat back a little in midfield and should have pressed a little bit more in order to break down a team that had one outlet - long ball to quick striker. The remaining 9 Ignatians outfield players just sat behind the ball until they broke.
All this aside it was a great game, controlled from beginning to the end with 70+ % of possession. But no goals to show for this domination.....Back to the drawing board!
