A great team performance today. We played a well organised and very direct side. They got the ball forward quickly which we coped with well in the first half. We experienced some tough tackles but got into a rhythm with movement and passing which they struggled to cope with. We went ahead from a slide rule pass from Cassidy after winning possession on the edge of our area after they had a corner. Ollie Olanepkun ran through, rounded the keeper and slotted the ball home. The first half was more of the same with our movement causing them problems. The second half saw us start slowly. With tiredness setting in we stepped off them a little in midfield and they started to assert some pressure on us. They went even more direct and a speculative punt wrong footed our defence and they eqaulised with a tap in after the confusion that this ball had caused.
We failed to move the ball quickly and got drawn into a physical battle with them. With 15 minutes to go we started getting some composure back and in the final three minutes of the game we recycled possession from a corner and a one touch return pass from Danny back to Cassidy saw a first time cross curled into the path of the onrushing Mike Ramsey and Sean Marshall. Mike Ramsey touched the ball home and the result we deserved was sealed. We had two good goals cancelled out for off-side (their manager referred the game) and they hit the cross bar three times with over hit crosses!
On another note, we sadly lose Raheem Belgrave this week. Who is returning back to Trinidad to sign a professional contract with premiership team back home. We wish him well in hes promising career.
