Egbertians started strongly and took control of the game against a very physical Parkfields team with some high pressing and slick passing. Eggs had a few half chances before taking a deserved lead through a Parkinson left foot shot from a well taken Hyde Corner. They had further chances to extend their lead but went into the break with a slender 1 goal advantage. The second half was much of the same with Egs limiting the opposition to any real chances and their only real goal threat came from set pieces. Egbertians then put some good moves together with Kent and Baldwin combining well to set up Palmer who smashed his effort onto the bar from 18 yards. A number of further chances were wasted and that meant a nervy last few minutes that Egs managed to see out and start the season with a well deserved 3 points.
