Egbertian IV started this LOB cup game the stronger as UCL were getting grips with a number of new personnel in their team and the Egs went close on a few occasions before the game settled down. It was UCL who took the lead in the 30th minute when a right wing cross was expertly pulled out the air by Parkinson and presented to their centre forward who made no mistake from 6 yards out to make it 1-0. Egbertian did not panic and their high pressing game resulted in the equaliser as D Garrett & Pybus pressed the ball which found itself to Baldwin who drew in 2 defenders before producing a deft chip to Mclean who controlled and drilled the ball into the back of the net to make it 1-1 at half-time. The second half started and Egbertian continued to look dangerous on the right as the impressive Hyde was bombing forward from right back and producing some great deliveries. It was no surprise that the deadlock was broken from a Hyde delivery whose free kick was flicked in by Offord making it 2-1. White and Mclean were bossing Midfield and it was White whose 70 yard mazy Bobby Charlton run set up the goal that sealed the game. White started his run well inside his own half and by the time he had made it to the oppositions box he'd picked up half the pitch on his boots and looked like he had wellies on - he finally laid the ball off (should have shot!) to Palmer whose shot was too hot for the Keeper to handle and Baldwin was on hand to make it 3-1 and put the game to bed. With 10 minutes left Hyde put Baldwin in down the right and he gave the Keeper the eyes and expertly lobbed him from 25 yards to make it 4-1 and send the mighty Egs into the Quarter Finals of the LOB cup.
