Ten men egbertian came away from Douglas Eyre with a well deserved point after playing 65 mins with only 10 men. Egs soaked up the early Parms pressure and kept exposing the home sides defence on the break with Goulding excellent in attack. Parms had more possession but Sikking, Kent, Poole, and Garrett were rock solid in the Egbertian Defence and at the other end Goulding nearly broke the deadlock with a 30 yard screamer that smashed against the bar and then had another effort where the Parms goal keeper forced him wide after a great run. The game then turned on its head when an error saw the Parms centre forward intercept a back pass and roll the ball towards the unguarded Egbertians net. D Garrett raced back and fell onto the ball and was adjudged to have handled the ball which resulted in the ref awarding a penalty and a red card to put the Egs down to 10 men with 65 mins left! J Garrett then made a terrific save from the penalty and kept the score at 0-0. Egbertains then shocked the home team by taking the lead with the impressive Palmer playing in Goulding who rounded the on-rushing keeper and somehow managed to score from an almost impossible angle. Parms threw the kitchen sink at the Egs in the second half and they finally made the break through in the 75th minute to make it 1-1 but the 10 men of Egs held strong and took a well deserved point.
