Egbertians IV were knocked out of the LOB Drummond Cup Quarter Finals by Queen Mary III and in the process ended their unbeaten run stretching back to early December. The first half was a very tight affair and Egbertians should have been awarded a penalty when Palmers legs were taken away but somehow the ref didn't see it. At the other end Garrett kept the score at 0-0 pulling off a good save with his legs from the their centre forward from close range. After the break Egbertians couldn't get going and struggled to impose any real pressure on Queen Marys and paid the price when their unmarked centre back scored from a set piece to make it 1-0 after 58 mins. Egbertians made some changes to try and get back in the game and this really stretched the game. The ref then awarded Queen Marys a penalty from a bouncing ball that hit the striker and defender, and with the amazement of both sets of players awarded a penalty! Their striker stuck it past the post to keep the Egs in the game. The last 5 mins saw Kent go through one on one to send the tie to extra time but their keeper made a great save with his legs. The final piece of action in the last min saw every Egs player up for a corner including the Egs Keeper Garrett and as the ball dropped to him the Queen Mary player shoved him the floor with 2 hands as he controlled the ball. Some how the ref gave Queen Marys the free kick for Garrett falling on the ball and from that they went up the other end to make it 2-0 with the last kick of the game to send Egbertians out of the cup. Dave Garrett was Man of Match for Egs who had a stormer in the centre midfield.
