Egbertian IV were defeated 3-1 by a very physical Old Salvs side to see them remain 8th in the league. Egs weathered early pressure that saw the home side have a number of long range shots but nothing that really threatened Garrett in the Egs goal. The clearer chances fell to the Egs on the break as new signing Echeazu pulled a snap shot just wide and Goulding hit a post with a header. The second half saw the Egs apply more pressure and were rewarded when Goulding smashed in a free kick with his left foot. Echeazu trickery had won a free kick on the edge of the box and Goulding lashed the ball in the top corner to give the Egs a 1-0 lead. The Egs should have then extended their lead when a quick break saw White play through Echeazu who beat 2 defenders before being taken down to win a penalty. Goulding bravely stepped up but his shot hit the post and the ballwent wide. It still only looked one team would win it, until uncharacteristically Egs capitulated between the 80-85min. A mad 5 mins saw Old Salvs score from a free kick, a corner and break away goal to turn the game on its head. A very disappointing result and one that Egs can quickly look to bounce back on with a game scheduled for this Wednesday evening.
