A good result from the 3rds this week. A tough fixture with Somerville a the top of the table and hunting for promotion. The first half Somerville came out of the stocks with their direct style of long ball and wide play. Egs dug in and defended this well. Not the greatest football to watch from either side, all a bit to kick and rush, with both teams hunting for a result. Although Egs created several chances at goal, but were not clinical enough at the end of a build up play. Somerville got there break about 30 min in with a long ball played through over centre of the park, George who had a fantastic game couldn't get a solid contact with his defensive header and it bounced favorably for their fwd whom slotted it home. Egs continued with the same mentality and within 10 mins Jordan, slipped their offside line to run 30 yards, out running their two centre backs and firing home a well deserved equaliser. The first 20 mins of the second half saw Egs pressure Somerville to breaking point, with Jordan and Val, having a shot denied, and Rick's effort roll along the whole of the goal line and bobble out. Overall a great result for the 3rds and our fate now totally in our hands in our final game next week. A "true" team effort from everyone; all taking on their instructions with a Methodical and disciplined approach. Chose Vali as MOM as he was consistent throughout, although Alliance deserves to share this as he played with real discipline and composure in the CM today. Thanks once again to Bayo and Tim for releasing their lads to us.
