Egbertians IV took 3 points to ensure they finished above Edmontonians who were playing their last game of the season. The first half was a scrappy affair with both sides struggling to put any real passing together and it was the away side who scored first after 15 mins. A mistake in the Egbertian defence saw the Edmontonians striker through on goal and he finished low into the corner to make it 1-0. Egbertians pressed for the equaliser and Dyball had a shot cleared off the line after great through ball saw him round the keeper. Dyball was looking a constant threat for the Egs and it was no surprise to see him bag the equaliser with a towering header from a Hyde set piece to make it 1-1 at the break. Egbertians turned the screw in the second half with a forced change seeing McCann coming into the Midfield and Kent being pushed into a more advanced role. This change immediately saw White send Kent down the right with a through ball and Kent with still plenty to do, dropped the shoulder on the defender to sail into the box and gave the keeper the eyes as he passed the ball into the side netting to give Egs the lead. That goal inspired the Egs and saw them press for more and the 3rd goal was not far behind as a Hyde free kick was dispatched clinically by Kent to send Egs 3-1 up. Hyde then popped up to make if 4-1 following a Lancaster long throw and a White flick on saw him smash the ball into the bottom corner from 8 yards. Edmontonians then decided they had nothing to lose and started to throw everything forward but with Poole excellent in defence Egbertians held firm to soak up the pressure and a great counter attack saw Hyde provide his 3rd assist of the match with a inch perfect cross into the path of Brooks who smashed a curling a effort top corner from 12 yards to put the game to bed and make if 5-1. The away side did not lay down and scored 2 goals in the last 5 mins to make it 5-3 as the Old legs of the Egs started to tire but the damage was done and the 3 points belonged to the Egs.
