On any other day we could have at least competed against Parms, but with three of our back four out and really lacking a Striker we were punished heavily by perhaps the strongest Parms team we’ve played in the last two years.
We started off under pressure as Parms had some lively midfield players, after 10 mins we settled down and started to put a bit of pressure on Parms, with Rys and Gary both having efforts on goal. Parms was awarded a free kick on the edge of our box, and the scored after a player pulled Monnys shirt and him over to lean over and header it in! Hard for the Ref to see between 16 players. We started again to put Parms under pressure but in small spells, when Parms had the ball they moved it about lovely, creating plenty of space and looking very comfortable. A second disappointing goal came after one of our defenders was down on the ground and Parms picked the ball up from the half way line rounding our players who were asking him to put the ball out. Greedy, Poor Sportsmanship or Smart? Either way the ref blew and it was 2-0, the next 15 mins saw us spur into life a bit but our lack of shots left us 2-0 at the break.
The second half was very poor with 2 defenders coming off and us losing shape completely at times, we tried to push on but Parms seemed to be first to every ball and when we did build an attack Parms would break and score.
I think 7-0 flattered them quite a bit but even with a full side we would have a very difficult game against the strongest Parms side we’ve played in the last two years including their 3rd & 4th teams.
