Egbertian IV's progressed into the next round of the cup with a 6-3 victory against a spirited Old Minch team that were looking to cause an upset. Egs took an early lead when Avery glided down the left past 2 defenders and laid the ball square for Kent to dispatch the ball into the back of the net. Old Minch's then quickly equalised with a well taken goal before White gave Egs the lead once more with a 25 yard curler that dropped into the top corner. Back came Old Minch's and duly equalised with simple move and smart finish to leave it all square at the break. Immediately after the re-start the referee awarded an indirect free kick to the opposition 6 yards from goal for a high foot and Old Minch's took their chance to take the lead 3-2. Egs did not panic and made it 3-3 10 minutes later with Garrett passing it up to the head of Goulding, whose header from 12 yards gave the keeper no chance. Goulding then scored his second of the game to put the Egs in front when Young controlled the ball in the middle and laid it off to Goulding who blasted a 30 yard screamer into the bottom corner to make it 4-3. The game was then effectively put to bed by Old Minch getting a player sent off for dissent. The Egs then Egsploited the extra man and Avery ran riot by going on a Bale "esk" run past 5 players before cutting it back to Goulding who smashed it bottom corner to complete his hatrick. The Egs weren't finished and Hyde put a great cross into Kent who placed his header into the bottom corner to put the finishing touches on a good team performances. In the interview after the match, new signing Avery added "My assist for the 5th goal may have been unbelievably ridiculous but I'm just happy we got the result".
