A tough game yesterday
We started shakily and rode some early pressure. But as we got into the game Enfield raised the intensity and got much more physical in order to maintain their early game dominance.
Enfield largely were restricted to distance shots throughout the match. But even so, Michael in goal was kept busy. The referee had a firm talk with both sides at half time as he could see that we had started to 'look after ourselves' But this could have been avoided if he'd been firm earlier with the oppo.
That aside they scored in both halves due to a couple of individual mistakes.We scored to make it 2-1 straight after they scored their second. This was a peach of a goal with Dwane Francis cutting inside from the right on a run along the edge of the area. He skipped past two defenders and and bent a shot inside the left hand post.
The tackles still came in and the referee seemed reluctant to reign in Enfield.
We had the better of the final 20 minutes and should had a penalty in this phase. The referee also incorrectly disallowed an equaliser . We still had enough chances in both halves to have won the game. But more clinical shooting and gambling on dropped/spilled shots was not our strong point.
A more consistent squad is need now as the changes on a weekly basis is unsettling the teams balance and performances. So the greater commitment is required by all the lads that want to be regular starters and contributors to the team.
