Enfield we 3 wins from 3 games so we expected a good game today, we were without 4 starters and had just lost two players who had moved away so we were slightly under-strength.
Enfield started the better side and were winning all the aerial battles as we was missing Ryan Murray, we managed to contain them for a while but they had two very good chances both coming from the huge throw of the right back. We had started to get a foothold in the game when a free kick from 15 yards in the Enfield half seemed to have gone over the deference and keeper and into the net! Not sure if it was the dip, wind or hand of god but it was dam lucky.
1-0 down and after 20 mins of pressure things were not looking like they would go our way, until we had a free kick thumbled and dropped by the Enfield keeper that Sonny who slotted home to get the equalizer. This changed the game and gave the Bertian boys the confidence they needed being without their keeper and captain. The rest of the half saw a few chances for both sides and good saves kept the game at 1-1
The second half was much the same with both sides getting chances, I would say that we was just edging it and looking like the side to get the next goal, when another shock and lucky goal game out of nowhere to put Enfield 2-1 up. It seemed to come from nothing and a great shot that managed to dodge half our players. We pushed on to get the winner but our pressure didn’t count and we couldn’t find another equalizer.
You could see what it meant to Enfield at the final whistle! Bad day at the office and with a few tough weeks to come with players working and out injured so we will have to dig in hard.
