Referee:

We played a well organised and very direct side. They got the ball forward quickly which we coped with well in the first half. They also always got the ball down often and tried to beat/commit players and at us too.

Despite this the early part of the game was quite even until they scored from a weak corner that failed to see anybody attack the ball. The ball bounced 3 times across our goal line and they just bundled it in.

This shook us a little and we lost composure for about 5 minutes. Then we started playing again! This resulted in some good switches of play and penetrating balls. We got a corner on the left. Ramsey had a word with the referee prior, about an 'active' corner. Ramsey placed the 'ball' down and then Ollie jogged over to 'take' the corner and immediately pulled out and smashed a screamer into the top right hand corner from outside the box - goal of the season contender!

We pushed them more as the first half wore on. The second half was more of the same as we cut them open at ease with quick passing, quick switches of play. Our second goal came from such a break. Mod and James snuffed out an attack switched the ball quickly to the left. We broke and the square ball found its way to Ollie who dispatched it into the bottom right hand corner.

Our third goal came from another break away move down the left hand side. Which resulted in Mike Ramsey cutting in and lobbing the keeper. A well executed goal.

We starting playing with a bit more fluidity despite the opposition raising their game. Evandro our debutant keeper was assured and set up our 4th goal with a quick throw out to Ramsey who broke. Lobbed the keeper but saw his effort bounce back off the cross bar. Cassidy Okonkwo was first to react and smashed the ball into the net to make it 4. Old Woods only managed three shots on target during the game.

This came from good protection from the defence primarily. The full backs especially had heir work cut out as the Woods danger players were their wingers and centre mid. This resulted in some keenly fought battles from Proctor, Bazz and then Danny Williams.

This was a good result as Woodhousienas will be challenging for the title come May - for sure. Another mention to the centre mids particularly Mod and James Dennis who I instructed to see/cut out danger more. I failed to mention this post match. But I thought they, despite being tired, really nullified the dangerous Woods offensive threat. The last 20 minutes in particular was very impressive from them both.

Everybody deserves a mention for their performance.
