4th Team 1 - 1 Old Parmiterians VI

Another strong performance by Egbertian IV this week saw them take a valuable point from the early league leaders Old Parms. Coming in to the game Old Parms had won 3 games out of 3 and they were full of confidence and running in the early stages as they expected to take the full 3 points on offer. Egbertians were well organised and played some good football in patches as the confidence to knock the ball around created some decent half chances that asked questions of the Old Parms back line. The away side were getting some joy down the flanks and won a debateable penalty from corner that was not cleared. The Old Parms centre forward smashed home the penalty to give them the slender 1-0 advantage at half time. Egbertians didn't panic and came out in the second half with a few personnel changes that saw them take the game to opposition. A few more half chances came and went before the turning point in the game saw Garrett pull of a terrific low save to his right from a one on one. Egbertians then seized their opportunity with some great passing down the right from Hyde and Kent that played in Baldwin who swung over the cross to Pybus who smashed his shot into the top left hand corner to make it 1-1. Egbertians could have nicked the winner in the last minute with a Goulding free kick but a draw was probably a fair result as the league leaders dropped their first points of the season.
