4th Team 1 - 3 Old Challoners

An under par performance saw Egebertian IV slip to their second defeat this season to a well organised and strong Old Challoners side who are yet to drop any points this season and it was easy to see why. The visitors started the stronger and pegged the Egs back into the their own half creating a number of half chances that saw them force a number of corners that brought the opening goal of the game. Challoners right winger swung in the corner and their dominant centre forward towered his header in the net at the far post to make it 1 nil. Credit to Egs as they got a foothold back in the game and created some chances to get back in the game and deservedly got the equaliser on the stroke of half time. A Pybus delivery from a free kick on the right was inch perfect for Goulding whose brilliant header smashed into the far corner giving the opposition goal keeper no chance. With it 1-1 at the break Egbertian were full of confidence for the second half but were sucker punched with quick start from the visitors aS they got away down the right and once again the cross was met by the head of their centre forward who scored his second of the day with well directed header into the bottom corner. Egbertians pushed to get the equaliser but were soon pegged back even further when another cross from the right that was not dealt with and another headed goal from their centre mid made it 3-1. It was a tough ask for Egs to get back into the game but they showed great spirit to keep going right to the end and created a few half chances but Challoners held strong, soaked up the pressure and saw the game out to continue their 100% record. Egs IV were below par today and 4 headed goals in the game tells you a lot about what type of game it was. Egs IV will be looking to bounce back next Sat in the cup.
