1st Team 1 - 2 Economicals 2nds

An unfortunate loss yesterday against a very hard working and balanced side. With a strong side out we should have done better and really have no excuses. We started a little sluggish and Economicals got a little rhythm to their game.
We started playing after a few scares only for a mis-communication between the defence and the keeper for their striker to steal through and nick a goal against the run of play. We got back in the game quickly with a long pass and subsequent bounce fooling their keeper who panicked and parried the ball. Simon Jones followed up and lobbed the ball into the net.
We then had the better of the second half but showed poor finishing/anticipation and composure in front of goal to see 5/6 chances go begging. With about 10 minutes to go, a corner was not cleared sufficiently with lads switching off. The ball fell to one of their players on the edge of the area and he rifled home a shot.
We pored forward and had a couple more chances which should have resulted in an equaliser. But again poor finishing/ anticipation/ decision making saw us draw a blank in this final part of the game.
We were rusty after the Christmas break from back to front and it showed.
Now it's time to get focused on the league. I have Ged back again this Wednesday and final 3rd decision making and shooting will be top of the list!
