3rd Team 3 - 0 Southgate

Awkward start for us as the journey was traffic ridden and a couple of the guys got lost, the change of ground on Friday didn't help. We got changed by the side lines of the pitch and didn't have time to warm up, as the ref just wanted to start.
The first 20 minutes was shaky as the lads had no warm up and only a quick organisational chat whilst changing. The football was a bit rough round the edges and a little frantic, but Egs still managed to create several chances and pressured well. Jay, Vali, Mo and Alliance all had good opportunities which they could not convert, with Southgates keeper pulling off some great stops to further deny Jay on several occasions. Our back four were a little shaky and undecided at moments, of counter attack from southgate, but held their nerve and poise and the first half ended goal less. The second half we dominated from start to finish. Ricky and Alliance paired extremely well in the centre and Milo showed real drive on the right mid to balance Mo and vals efforts respectively on the left. After ample opportunities we finally got our first goal from a free kick by Brian. Ironically enough their keeper who had been faultless upto then, went to catch the head height driven shot and fumbled it backwards into his own net. Our second goal and third goals came from a corners, the first, a powerful header from Brian and the second from a second ball tap in from Mo. A good result for the team so hopefully we can take this to next weeks game against title chasers Sommerville. Thanks go out to Alliance and Milo from the reserves who really gelled well with our existing team.
