Two points dropped by Egbertian IV this week as they drew 1-1 to go second in the league. A great first half performance saw the Egs have a goal disallowed for offside, a header over the bar from a yard, their keeper making a great save from a one on one, and many half chances created as they dominated the half. The second half saw Mayfield start to get into the game but Egs were well on top and had a further two efforts ruled out for a foul on the keeper and offside. Finally the goal came as Ben Avery, making his debut for Egs from the bench, made a surging run down the left, held off the defender, and buried the ball past the keeper to make it 1-0 to the Egs. The Egs should have put the game to bed but a mix-up at the back saw a half chance presented to a Mayfield midfielder he hit the top corner from 20 yards to snatch a undeserved point. Egs IV continue their unbeaten run but miss the opportunity to take top spot this week.
