The first half saw both team create a limited number of half chances as both teams struggled with the poor conditions. Egbertians probably edged the first half but their final ball let them down on a number of occassions. They did however have the ball in the net from well worked corner but with so many players in the goal mouth the referee failed to spot the ball crossing the line before the ball was hacked away. A wreckless challange by Commets center forward took out Shaun McCann for Egbertians and that ended his game after 30mins and he ended up in hospital with a fracture to his ankle! Even though we had subs we still ended the game with only 10 fit players as hamstring and knee injuries accounted for Noris and White having to also withdraw from the game.
The first goal was always going to be crucial and Comets took the intiative from a corner that was not delt with to make it 1-0 after 70 mins. Egbertians then had to chase the game to try and find the equaliser and with the final ball still letting them down Commets secured the points on the counter attack with Griggs putting through his own net to condem Egbertains to another league defeat.
